Harold Jerome Nichols, 61, of Fall River, Massachusetts, and formerly of Charleston and Beckley, WV, departed this life, Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Catholic Memorial Nursing Home (Hospice Care) after a long illness.
Harold was born May 5, 1957, Beckley, WV, where he was the youngest of 6 children. Upon completing his education, he joined the Job Corp where he learned valuable skills and had opportunity to travel. When his Job Corp program was over, he enlisted in the Marine Corp for two years, then he settled in Charleston, WV. Harold worked and attended several junior colleges and trade schools. He went to Boston, Mass. to visit and ended up staying. It was during his stay in Boston, February 2002, he met and married his wife, Andrea Smith. He loved Boston. Harold was a “people person” and worked jobs in which he was able to help others.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Eliza Nichols; oldest sister, Gloria Easley, and his oldest brother, Curtis Nichols.
He is survived by his wife Andrea Smith Nichols; his step-children, Nastasha and Jerome Young; step-grandchildren, Nevaeha, Jashawn, Jerome Jr. and Jameel of Fall River; sisters, Roma Nichols of Boston, Mass., Sandra Price (Warren) of Cross Lanes, and Reva Nichols of Dunbar; mother-in-law, Mattie Smith, sisters-in-law; Deborah Lovings, Donna Smith; brothers-in-law; Ruben Williamson, Darryl Butler of Boston, A host of Family and Friends.
Harold or “Nicky”, as we called him, will always be remembered for his contagious smile, little unexpected jokes, the great love he had for his mom, family, and people in general. During his last days when he was advised to rest, he said he wanted to spend time with family. Harold, we will miss you and will see you again.
