Abel "Bam" Stukes, Jr. Obituary

Abel Lamont "Bam" Stukes, Jr., left his earthly body Wednesday, December 13, 2023. He was born April 23, 1975, the only child to loving parents, Abel Stukes, Sr., and Brenda Stukes.

Abel was educated in Bronx County schools and graduated from Job Corp in 1993 with a high school diploma and a Certificate in Carpentry. He had a great childhood and was surrounded by family and love. Abel was always a sweet soul, even during childhood. From being in his father’s candy store to family card night gatherings, Abel was the baby of the group, and his cousins/brothers did what they did best….be boys. Later, Abel met his then girlfriend, Inez, in the Job Corp, and from the union his first child, Iesha Zayas, was born. He was a hugh family person and enjoyed spending time with his family. He liked spending time with his Job Corp friends and getting in mischief with his uncle/brother, Sean Langley.

In the 2000’s, Abel would follow his father to West Virginia, He loved and truly adored his WV family. Abel was a caring gentle giant who loved helping people. He would come across several people who he would later consider best friends and family. Abel loved his brothers and truly enjoyed getting together for their weekly poker games. He was a laid-back person and his hobbies included watching movies, playing his games and his new passion, his beloved fish tanks. In 2014 Abel would meet his partner, Trishanda. In 2016 they had their son, Abel Stukes, III. Together their life changed for the better and Abel’s family became the highest importance to him. He was an excellent father and glowed from the inside over his children.

Abel found his calling in caregiving and worked at the Arc of the Three Rivers, where he truly enjoyed his work and excelled within the company. He later worked one-on-one with his special friend, Fred. As Abel became more focused on his health, he began working out with his partner, Pugs. He began eating better and even thought himself a master chef as he watched “Hell’s Kitchen” with his close friend, Nakia. Abel never took his life for granted and enjoyed the smaller things of life, which included seeing his family for Sunday dinner, fishing with his family on Saturday mornings, and gathering with the guys to have a few drinks. He never met a stranger and accepted everyone for who they were without judgement. Abel did love a good debate, LOL, had passion, and exuded love.

Abel was preceded in death by his father, Abel Stukes, Sr.

Abel leaves to cherish his memory, life partner, Trishanda Leigh, son, Abel Lamont Stukes, III, daughter, Iesha Zayas, mother, Brenda Ann Stukes, brother, Jerry Hartfield, aunts, Ethel Stukes, Rochelle Stukes, Cheryl Langley Johnson, Lisa Langley, Marsha Stukes, and Kitty Bennet, great aunt and godmother, Joyce Frank, uncles, Sean Langley, and Marion Stukes, and a host of friends.
