Belinda Elaine “Lindy” Saunders, 63, gained her wings Friday, December 22, 2023, at 11:20 p.m. She was born at Richmond Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, May 28, 1960, to the late Geraldine E. Morris (Reuben C. Morris, stepfather) and late father, Arthur Elmo Stevens, of Caroline County, Virginia. Lindy was a firm believer in Jesus Christ, spending many years attending Temple of Faith Ministries in Cross Lanes, WV, where she was formerly a member. In recent years, she continued to follow her faith in the comfort of her home.
Lindy was raised in Caroline County, VA, along with her ten siblings. Two of her favorite hobbies were gardening and sewing, which she did well and continued to do into her adult life. In 1979, Lindy moved to Charleston, WV, where she attended West Virginia State University to pursue a degree in education. Lindy fell in love with Charleston and resided there until her untimely death. After completing her degree, she began working for Charleston Job Corp Center, where she was a dedicated employee for about 30 years.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Saunders was preceded in death by her grandmother, Helen Elizabeth Cox, sisters, Fonda L. Green, and Glenda D. Smiley (Sterling, Sr.), and a devoted mentor, Ms. Armstead.
Lindy is survived by her husband, William E. Saunders, siblings, Jesse Green, Sr. (Cassandra), Jonnette Green, Veraline Stevens, Arthur Stevens (Sandra), Wanda Johnson (Maurice), Ryan Stevens (Shontai), Darryl Morris (Lorita), Alycia Smithers Johnson, a host of nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved, devoted sisters- in-law, Terri Twyman and Lisa Saunders, brother-in-law, JD Saunders, devoted neighbors and friends, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Means, and a host of relatives and friends.
