Mrs. Betty Mae Coleman, 90, of Charleston, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at CAMC - Memorial Hospital, Charleston. Betty was born to the late Madge Stephens Clark and Edward P. Clark Sr.
Betty, in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Coleman Sr.; her sons, James R. Coleman Jr. and Kevin R. Coleman; daughter, Sally Renee Burger; and brothers, Edward Clark Jr. and Paul L. Clark; and sisters, Joe Ann Isabell, Donna Smoot, Caroline Sue Clark and Ruth Clark.
Betty attended Garnett High School in Charleston and continued her education through New Careers in Institute. She retired at CAMC Memorial Hospital as a ward clerk in the nursing unit for the Clinic. She attended Grace Bible Church and was one of the original members of the East End Neighborhood Association. Betty was known for her kindness and generosity of spirit.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Deborah K. Coleman and Dauree' E. Coleman of Charleston; sisters, Pauline Hairston of Charleston, Barbara Bostic of Pikesville, Md.; brother, Bobby Jo Clark (Denise) of Charleston; and aunt, Thelma Meeks of Warren, Ohio. She had four grandchildren, Aaron, JoAnn, Marquita and Marque; several great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 13, at Grace Bible Church, with Rev. Matthew Watts officiating.
Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service.
