Blanche Delores Atkins

Blanche Delores Atkins, 91, of Charleston, West Virginia, departed this life Sunday, October 22, 2023, after a long illness. She was born January 24, 1932, in Glen White, WV, to Robert L. Atkins, Sr., and Sallie T. Atkins. While a young girl, the family moved to Charleston, where she remained until her death.

Blanche held various positions throughout her life, from working for Kanawha County schools as a teacher’s aide, as well as the WV Governor’s Mansion. She professed her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of the Young Street Baptist Church, which is now Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Blanche loved being with people and enjoyed being active. Among her many talents, she was an excellent cook. Blanche was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sallie Atkins, sister, Dorothy Mae Whitehead, brother, Robert L. Atkins, Jr., and sister-in-law, Delma B. Atkins.

Blanche leaves to cherish her memory, nephews, Robert L. Atkins, III, Lewes, DE, and Scott E. Atkins, Silver Spring, MD, and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
