Obituary

DeaneYell Montinette Henry, 47, of Rand, WV, passed away September 12, 2020, after a sudden illness.

"Monti", as she was affectionately called by her many family, friends, and loved ones, was born November 30, 1972, in Princeton, West Virginia, to Vera Cecelia Gore and the late Larry R. Henry.  She moved with her family from Princeton to Rand at age seven.  She attended Malden Elementary and DuPont Junior High School. A 1991 graduate of DuPont High School in Belle, Monti later completed studies in massage therapy. She graduated from Mountain State School of Massage in Charleston.

Given her professional drive and tireless work ethic, Monti spent a number of years in the workforce that began while in her teens with the Summer Job Program of Kanawha County, and  later as an adult, she worked at Chilton Research, the Kanawha County Bureau for Child Support Enforcement and Macy's department store.  At the time of her passing Monti was a fulltime caregiver for her mother, Vera Cecelia "CC" Gore. She had a passion for helping others. Per Monti’s wishes, her giving spirit will live on through her selfless gift of organ and tissue donation.

In addition to her father Monti was preceded in death by her stepfather, Melvin E. Gore, maternal grandparents, Fred and Willie Smith, paternal grandparents, Wayne and Ella Mae Henry, step grandfather, Roosevelt Gore, sister, Kisha Cobb, aunts, Annilee Haden, Patricia Gray, and Cheryl Harman.

Monti is survived by her children, Bianka and Xiomar Henry, grandchildren, Alarah Henry-Hines and Amari Hines, mother, Vera Cecelia Gore, step grandmother, Lydia Gore, sisters Cass-Andrea "Sandi" Henry, Kelli Salters, and Krystal Stanley; brothers, Richard Henry, Eugene Gore, Tiran Gore, and Andre Truss; nieces, Khristmas Thomas, Keyaira Allen, Xavi Cobb, and Journi Gore, nephews; Raheem Waiters, Isaiah Gore, Cornelius Gore, and Quincy Tucker, great nephews, Maliq Allen and Kah’-Zyi Thomas, great nieces; Jaylin, Kaden, and Rayna Stanley, aunts and uncles, Joycelyn (David) Mills and Martha (Tony) Stubblefield, cousins, Cheralita Griggs and her daughters and grandson, Reilla Griggs, Melia Tyler, and Joshua Cole Stewart, Yvonne Hayes and family, Leota Hayes and her daughter, Treasure Saunders, Davida Mills and her daughter, Ze'kyrah, William Mills and his daughters, Jasmine, Jayda, and Jordan, and a host of extended family and special friends.

Monti’s final wish was to be cremated. Callender Funeral Home, Charleston, has been entrusted with her care. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
