Deborah Brown, 63, transitioned Monday, October 31, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Texas, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 23, 1959, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Gertrude Moore and Bass Givens. Deborah was an amazing woman of God, a great mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had many gifts and talents. Deborah was a presence in her community and church her entire life, making many sacrifices by putting her life on hold and serving those she loved. Deborah was a seamstress, culinary chef (family certified), singer, handyman, and she had many other skills obtained throughout her life.
Deborah was married to the late Byron James Scott in the early years of her life. Together they raised four daughters and two sons. In 1997 Deborah moved her family to Charleston, WV, to start a new life. There she married Mark Anthony Brown, January 31, 2000. Deborah enjoyed taking time out with her grandchildren and there were lots of laughter and playing.
Deborah’s family paid this tribute to her: “Deborah was one of the kindest people you could ever meet. She opened her heart and home to many people over the years and she will be sorely missed.”
Deborah was preceded in death by her son, Alonzo Scott, parents, nine brothers, and a sister.
Deborah leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Mark Brown, five children, Tomika Wright (Jeffrey), Byron Moore (Amanda), Deborah Elmore (Gary), Stephanie Reese (Clinton), and Yolanda Hiller, goddaughter, Lydia Christian, brother, Michael Moore, sister, Violet Grant, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
