Don Juan Staples, Sr., 70, of South Charleston, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 9, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born in Beckley, WV, and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He moved to Charleston and received a degree in computer programming at Charleston Career College. Don worked at Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Factory until its closing. He then opened Bowincals in 1975, which he owned and operated for 11 years. After Bowincals, Don worked at Union Carbide in the mailroom until his retirement.
Don loved spending time with his grandchildren, cooking and traveling.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Warren Staples, Sr. and Pauline Staples, brother, Warren (Cheryl) Staples, Jr., and sisters, Carolyn Staples, and Brenda Staples.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Deborah L. Staples, sons, Don Juan (Maisha) Staples, Jr., and Devin Staples, both of South Charleston, WV, daughter, Anika (Melvin) Staples, Columbia, SC, sisters, Lynda Lang, Waterbury, CT, and Marilyn (Bishop Fred) Simms, Beckley, WV, four grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and loved ones.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 18, 2021, 12:00 pm, at Grace Bible Church, 600 Kanawha Blvd., W., Charleston, with visitation at 11:00 am. Interment at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
