Ella Mae Goode

Ella Mae Goode, 62, of Blakely, Georgia, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023, in Charleston, West Virginia. She was born February 5, 1961, in Blakely, GA, and is the daughter of the late Jessie Mae Goode.

Ella Mae, as she preferred to be called, was educated at Avon Avenue Elementary School, Southside High School, and Essex County College, all in Newark, New Jersey. She valued education and believed in the power of knowledge. Ella worked as a home health aide.

Ella Mae loved her three sons and cherished her role as a mother and was deeply proud of her boys. Her love and dedication to her family knew no bounds. Ella was a very laid-back person and had a warm and welcoming personality that endeared her to everyone she met. Her easygoing nature made her a joy to be around, and she brought a sense of calm to any situation.

Along with her parents, Ella Mae was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Sanders, James Sanders and Charles Sanders, brother-in-law, Frank James, and long-time partner, Richard Hines.

Ella is survived by her three loving sons, Archie Goode (Shamechtra), Grand Prairie, TX, Antuan Goode, Newark, NJ, and Adrian Goode, South Charleston, WV, grandchildren, Shamir Goode, Nasir Goode, Anaiya Goode, Artaesia Wilson, Asia Wilson, and Shakira Smalls, sisters, Linda Goode, St. Albans, WV, Gladys James, Lexington, SC, and Diane Goode, South Charleston, WV,  brothers, Thomas Sanders (Diane), Charlotte, NC, and John Henry Goode, South Charleston, WV, father of sons, Antuan and Adrian, Archie Bynum, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ella Mae will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who love her.
