Hazel May Pleasant

Hazel May Pleasant, 74, of South Charleston, West Virginia, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023. She was born to the late Edward and Irene Anderson in Huntington, WV.

Hazel was raised in the country but migrated to the city when she began to expand her family. She split her time between Ohio and West Virginia. Hazel made sure she spread love and encouragement to all her children. She was a proud mother and a devoted grandmother that loved getting together for family gatherings.

In Hazel’s spare time she enjoyed looking her best, bird watching and watching her favorite crime shows, while eating a bowl of her favorite ice cream. Hazel also loved gardening, cooking, and reading the bible. Besides being a mother, she had a big heart for fur babies. There wasn’t a room she walked into that did not light up and her smile was infectious. To know Hazel was to love her.

Hazel was preceded in death by her sisters, Corretta Anderson, and Elizabeth Lewis.

Hazel is survived by her sons, Terry Pleasant (Joanne), Columbus, OH, Eugene Pleasant (Christina), Charleston, WV, Joey Pleasant and Michael Pleasant, both of Columbus, OH, daughters, Lisa Pleasant, Charleston, WV, Nicole Pleasant and Takisha Pleasant, both of Columbus, OH, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, brothers, Roy Anderson (Linda), and Willie Anderson, both of South Point, OH, and Donald Anderson, FL, and sister, Judy Anderson, Huntington, WV.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
