Kenric Lowell Smith

Kenric Lowell Smith, 57, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023. He is the son of the now deceased, Kenneth L. Smith, and Carolyn Brown, of Charleston, WV. Ken was born in Long Island, New York, January 10, 1966.

Although born in New York, Ken was raised in Charleston, WV, along with his siblings and many relatives from the Lawson and Smith families. He was an amateur musician and played bass in many small clubs in Charleston, mainly in the 1990’s. Ken was also a very good high school athlete and entertained football and baseball athletic scholarships from schools and universities, such as Wake Forest, NC A&T, and WV State. He opted for life in the trades, training as a landscaper, Asbestos Mitigation Technician, and bricklayer. Ken was married to Lisa Martin of WV in the late 1980’s and they share a daughter, Jasmin Smith.

 Ken is survived by his son, Nick Smith, CA, and daughter, Jasmin Smith, AZ, five grandchildren, sisters, Karen Smith, Katie Marshall Tanner, both of WV, and Chanta Brown, WI, brothers, Keith Smith, MD, Konta’ Smith, WI, and Kelly Smith, WV, Kenny Brown, and Kerry Brown, both of MI, stepbrother Marvin Price, WV and stepsister, Marlene "Nita" Price, WV. Nieces, Holly Smith, Terrica Smith, Kansas Frazier Smith and Paris Smith Williams, nephews, Marvin Smith, Konta’ Smith, Jr., and Keith Smith. Ken is also survived by his longtime partner, Carmen Williams.
