Lee William Hollis, Sr

Lee William Hollis, 69, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 8, 2022. He was born December 27, 1952, in Osage, WV, to the late Lorraine Fain Hollis and Walter Green Hollis, Sr. 

At an early age Lee and his family moves to northern Virginia, where he attended Alexandria City public schools. After graduating from Alexandria City High School (formerly T.C. Williams), Lee embarked on a lifelong career in maintenance, plumbing, and electrical work. Because he could fix anything, he excelled at working with his hands. Lee was known for his strong work ethic, and he never truly stopped working.

Although Lee was reserved by nature, he enjoyed socializing with friends, playing his vinyl record collection, and driving around town in his red convertible Pontiac with the white top. While married, Lee had a son and daughter. He spent the last 25 years of his life in WV, where he continued to work hard and cultivate new friendships. Lee lived on a farm and was happiest outdoors, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and taking care of his animals. The simple life suited him well.

For over 20 years Lee got great joy from attending Abundant Life Ministries in Charleston. He was a faithful member and was ordained as a deacon, December 7, 2019. Lee cherished his church family and was always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed, no matter what.

Lee’s life was filled with family, friends, and all the things he loved doing. We are thankful for his life and will forever cherish our special memories of him. We will always remember his gentle nature and silly jokes.

Lee was preceded in death by his older brother and younger sister.

Lee is survived by his son, Lee Hollis, Jr., daughter, Leigha Hollis, brother, David Hollis, and sister Diane Hollis Nowlin.
