Loretta Pettway, 67, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away September 24, 2020. Loretta was born in Millers Ferry, Alabama, October 20, 1952, to the late Percy and Mattie Louise Pettway.
Loretta was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, St. Albans, WV, Reverend Michael Poke, Pastor, where she sang in the choir, sharing her love of singing. Loretta moved from Birmingham, AL, to Charleston in 1972 and worked at Shoney’s restaurant, Equitable Life Insurance Company, McMillan Research, Union Carbide, and later, she was a caregiver to many.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Percy Pettway Jr., and Willie James Pettway, and sister, Alma Lee Rochelle.
Loretta leaves behind her twin brother, Lorenza Pettway (Eula), sisters; Ardean Pettway, and A. Jean Pettway, all of Camden, Alabama, Lorene Smith, Charleston, WV, and Savannah Houston, Hackensack, NJ, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We the family of Loretta Pettway want to thank St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Poke and church family, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Marlon Collins and church family, Thomas Memorial Hospital staff, nurses, and doctors for the care of our sister. We also want to thank Callender Funeral Home for their care and professionalism at this difficult time.
