Michele "Micky" Brown Obituary

Michele Antoinette Brown, affectionately known as "Micky, was born on July 3, 1966, in Charleston, West Virginia to James F. and Carol L. Brown. Michele was a twin and she and her brother, Michael, shared a special bond. Michele had no problem letting him or anyone else know that she was the oldest.. .by two minutes.
Michele attended Glenwood Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Junior High, and Stonewall Jackson High School. She received her Bachelor's degree in Art and Design from the University of Charleston, and a Master's in Business/Healthcare Management from Colorado Technical University. At the time of her passing, Michele was scheduled to receive her Doctorate in Healthcare Management and Leadership in December 2019.
Michele was a class-act athlete. She ran track and she was an exceptional basketball player. Despite her small stature she was an accomplished hurdler. She absolutely loved, loved, LOVED basketball and while in high school, her team, The Generals, were undefeated and number one in the state for two straight years. Michele and her team had a sisterhood that withstood the test of time and they remained in contact. She attended the University of Charleston on a 4 year basketball scholarship.
Michele was very talented. She enjoyed crafting, drawing, and working with children. She was able to do all of these things while volunteering at the Paul Laurence Dunbar Second Avenue Center After-School Program.
Michele didn't have children of her own, but she unconditionally loved her nieces and nephews. She was elated that basketball was the sport of choice for ALL of her nephews and she attended as many games as she could.
At the age of 53, Michele transitioned from this life October 9, 2019, at Hubbard Hospice House after a relatively brief battle with breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Betty Randle; paternal grandmother, Louvenia Brown; stepfather, Matthew A. Brown, Sr.; and her niece, Shatlyn Jaquice Brown.
Michele was blessed with a blended family. She is survived by her mother, Carol L. Brown; father, James F. Brown, Sr.; twin brother, Michael "Lil Mike" (Caprice) Brown; brothers, Dwayne and William Thompson, James F. "Man Man" Brown, Jr., Lloyd Michael "Big Mike", Matthew A.
