Monroe Garfield Reynolds, 85, of Charleston, WV, passed away September 17, 2022, at Hubbard Hospice House West, South Charleston, WV. He was the first of six children born to Lilly Mae Brown and Thomas Reynolds. Monroe grew up in Charleston.
Monroe attended Kanawha County Schools until six grade and lived in a home for boys in Huntington. At age 18, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, and worked at Fiero Chemical Plant as a machine operator from 1970 to 1978, then Monroe became a self-taught painter from 1979 to 2010. Later in life he moved back to Charleston, WV.
Monroe had a love for God! He had a passion for witnessing in the name of Jesus, holding a sign outside of his home every day, waiting for the opportunity to witness and save a soul. Monroe attended Brookside Ministries COGIC, where Rev. Bruce Hogan is pastor.
Monroe was preceded in death by his mother, Lilly Mae Brown, father, Thomas Reynolds, and brother, Timothy Reynolds.
Monroe is survived by his estranged wife, Floris Reynolds, Cleveland, Ohio, sons, Michael (Hilda) Reaves, Palmetto, Florida, and Casey Reaves, Cleveland, Ohio, daughters, Renee Hughes, South Charleston, WV and Barbara Davis, Charleston, WV, six grandchildren, sister, Patricia Mae, Buffington, South Carolina, brothers, Charles (Gwen), Shreveport, Louisiana, David Earl (Elenora), Charleston, WV, and Robert Lee, Nashville, Tennessee, and a host of relatives and friends.
