Ruth A. Robinson, daughter of the late William Johnson and Fannie Marie Montgomery, peacefully went from labor to reward late Sunday night, January 26, 2020, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, WV.
Ruth was born November 16, 1939, in Charleston, West Virginia. She lost her mother as a young child and was raised by her loving grandparents, Charley Robinson and Beulah Mabry. Ruth met and married Leon Blanks, also of Charleston in 1955. To this union two children were born, Deborah and Ronald. She was a lifelong resident of Charleston, attended Kanawha County public schools and worked various jobs before retiring from St. Francis Hospital. Ruth was baptized in 1953 at Young Street Baptist Church by Pastor Robert Allen Banks. She loved her church and served in many capacities. She was a member of Senior Choir II, The Nineteen to Forty Club, Culinary Ministry and Deaconess Ministry. Ruth remained active in her service far past the days her health permitted. Ruth impacted the lives of so many with her quick laugh, loving spirit and tell it like it is attitude.
Ruth was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charley Robinson and Beulah Mabry.
Ruth leaves to celebrate her homegoing and mourn their loss, daughter, Deborah Knox, and son, Ronald Blanks, both of Charleston; brother, Gerry Clements of Charleston; grandchildren, Marcus, Ronald, and David Allen of Charleston and Shikare and Cierra of North Carolina; foster-sisters, Thomasina, Threece and Rosa of Charleston; foster-brothers, Steven, Archie, Artie and Michael of Charleston; eighteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and friends.
