Theresa Yvette Wells Garrett

Theresa Yvette Wells Garrett, 61, a cherished soul, departed from this world and entered the arms of Heaven on Saturday, January 20, 2024, in Charleston, West Virginia. She was born April 16, 1962, at Confederate Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Theresa was a beloved daughter of the late Louis “L.T.” Wells and Willie Faye Collins. Known for her genuine authenticity, her presence radiated outspoken vibrancy, and Theresa’s commitment to her children, and siblings was a testament to her loyalty.

Theresa leaves behind her sisters, Felicia Wells Thomas and Miranda Wells-Coleman, and brother, Louis Tyrone Wells, who will forever cherish the memories they created together. In Dallas, Texas, Theresa united her life with Glenn W. Garrett, and together they raised two daughters, Kandance A. Wells and Brittany Garrett, and a son, Ryan  T.W. Garrett. Theresa took immense joy in being a grandmother, adoring her five grandchildren, Jerome D. Johnson Jr., Amarion Garrett, Elijah Garrett, Christopher Lacour, Jr., and Ariyah Tippett. She leaves behind her unwavering Auntie Ora, Auntie Sara Pool, Auntie Maude Ester, stepmother, Brenda Wells, countless cousins, and friends.

Theresa life was a source of joy for those privileged to truly know her. A mother, loyal sister, and friend she left an indelible mark on the hearts of family and friends. In honoring Theresa’s memory, let us remember the light she brought into our lives.

A memorial service to celebrate Theresa’s life will be held in Shreveport, LA, May 11, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a personal favorite charity or cause. We extend heartfelt gratitude to family and friends for their support.
